Postdoctoral Research Trainee - Cocaine Addiction : Memphis, TN, United States

Description: The faculty mentor for this position will be Dr.WEN LIN SUN. A NIH/NIDA-funded Postdoc position is available for studying the neuropharmacological mechanisms of cocaine addiction in the Department of Pharmacology of College of Medicine at University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Various techniques from the fields of psychology, pharmacology, neuroscience, and molecular biology are brought together to study the molecular mechanisms underlying cocaine addiction. We are particularly interested in how the neuroplastic changes in the various brain circuits contribute to various aspects of addicted behavior, in particular, compulsive cocaine-seeking/taking behavior, the hallmark of cocaine addiction. We are seeking candidates who are highly motivated and have an intention to develop an independent career in drug addiction research field. The position is available immediately. Qualifications: Candidates with a Ph.D. degree in pharmacology, molecular biology, neuroscience, biophysics, or psychology and experience with operant behavior, single-unit recording in freely moving animals, or in vitro electrophysiology will be given preference. Newly graduated Ph. D. students are especially encouraged to apply.

Salary will be commensurate with relevant experience and based on the prevailing wage for postdoctoral research trainees set by the U.S. Department of Labor.
