  Job Description

Washington University in St. Louis T32 Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunity in Precision Medicine and mental health

This NIMH-funded postdoctoral training fellowship is available to psychologists, neuroscientists, and geriatric and adult psychiatrists who are interested in conducting translational research on precision medicine, with a particular emphasis on neuroimaging, genetics, and brain health.

Individuals with a background in, and/or high aptitude in, neuroimaging analysis are preferred.

The fellow will be working with Eric Lenze MD, Professor of Psychiatry, who is leading a large-scale (n=585) mechanistic study of exercise and mindfulness training for older adults. This study includes longitudinal structural and resting state fMRI as well as genetics and other biomarkers, in combination with cognitive and behavioral assessments. Dr. Lenze is the Director of the Healthy Mind Lab at WUSM and is an accomplished mentor and researcher in geriatric mental health.

The training model would focus on interdisciplinary training, gaining expertise in translational and clinical mental health, including novel neuroimaging, biomarker, and behavioral/cognitive assessments, as well as clinical trial design.

Fellows will be mentored by a team of Washington University faculty with expertise in mental health, aging, clinical neuroscience, functional neuroimaging, psychiatric genetics, measurement, and clinical trials. Fellows have the opportunity for didactic training in core areas, professional development training, and most critically, this and other translational research projects.

Washington University is an Affirmative Action Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages women, minorities, economically disadvantaged and persons with disabilities to apply.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or an M.D. and must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States.

Start date is July 1, 2019 or later.
