Ref: R6/PAD/1160/18-SB
Hirewire: THW/18/059639/000836
The salary will be paid at Grade 6, £33,518 to £39,992 per annum, plus £2,923 per annum London Allowance. This post will be Full Time Fixed Term Contract for 18 months.
Applications are invited for Postdoctoral Research Associate in Psychology/Neuroscience to join the Centre for Population Neuroscience and Precision Medicine (PONS) at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London.
The successful candidate will participate in a research programme funded by the European Research Council to develop the framework for a novel psychiatric taxonomy based on quantifiable neurobehavioural measures. This will be achieved by relating functional and structural neuroimaging measures as well as (epi-)genomic characterisations to behavioural symptom groups in both cross-sectional and longitudinal data. Being defined by shared neural mechanisms, these symptom groups will provide markers for stratification and prediction of mental illness. The work will involve a good understanding of the neural correlates of behaviour, and experience in the analysis of neuroimaging data using advanced statistics. While based on the IMAGEN and STRATIFY cohorts, the research may involve comparative analyses of large scale neuroimaging data in Europe, India and China.
The post offers a unique opportunity to influence the development of precision-medicine in psychiatry, and its application globally in a team that is world leading in its field. We are seeking a talented, energetic and highly motivated individual with an excellent track record. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out imaging genetics and behavioural research of the highest standard. He/she will hold a PhD in psychology, neuroscience, or a related discipline.
Our research is funded by the European Research Council, the European Commission, the UK Medical Research Council, the U.S. National Institute of Health and others. It will be based on a series of recent discoveries and methodological advances published by our group in journals including Nature, Science, Nature Neuroscience, PNAS, Molecular Psychiatry, American Journal of Psychiatry and others.
Interviews are scheduled to be held shortly after the closing date.
