摘要:

Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Photonics

University of Oxford - Department of Materials

Grade 7

A postdoctoral research appointment to develop novel photonic computing paradigms and undertake creative research that opens new areas of research is available. Genuinely motivated, curious and ambitious individuals are sought. Reporting to Professor Harish Bhaskaran, you will be expected to carry out world-leading research, and be capable of producing high-quality first drafts of papers independently.  You will be responsible for the design, fabrication, planning experiments and testing, developing experimental methods, collecting data and developing models as well as assisting the Professor in meeting milestones and producing reports for the various grants held. This post is fixed-term for up to 24 months.

You will work closely with Professor Harish Bhaskaran, the Principal Investigator, and other members of the research group to achieve tight milestones. This may involve travelling to and working with our academic and/or industrial partners. The duties for the role will also include supervising research students pursuing a masters or DPhil on a day-to-day basis, providing crucial inputs to their research and analysis.

You will hold (or be near completion) a Doctorate in experimental condensed matter physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, or related fields. You will also have proven experience in hands-on fabrication of photonic devices and nanofabricaton techniques (including, but not limited to, e-beam lithography, optical lithography, characterisation techniques such as SEM and thin film deposition). Experience in areas of computational paradigms and designing of novel architectures will be especially welcome. You will also have experience in planning and designing experiments, developing required data acquisition and analysis techniques and presenting results at international conferences.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 14 May 2018.

The Department of Materials has been awarded departmental Bronze Athena SWAN status in recognition of its efforts to introduce organisational and cultural practices that promote gender equality, and is committed to creating a positive working environment for everyone. Job applications are particularly welcome from women and black and ethnic minority candidates, who are under-represented in research posts in the Department.
