We have an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Researcher, who will be based at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, reporting to Professor Peter McHugh. You will be part of a dynamic and ambitious research group focusing on DNA repair nucleases and will be working closely with external collaborators to generate small molecule inhibitors of these factors.

The successful candidate will characterise these repair factors through structural biology, biophysical and biochemical techniques. The work will interface with chemistry laboratories generating small molecule inhibitors for the factors being studied, and the appointee will be expected to contribute to the development of novel nuclease inhibition strategies.

A PhD (or within 6 months of completion) in structural biology, molecular biology or biochemistry is essential for this role, as well as demonstrable experience with molecular cloning, prokaryotic and eukaryotic expression (BEVS), protein purification and structural methods, preferably both crystallography and electron microscopy-based approaches.

Experience with the biochemical characterisation of DNA modifying enzymes and strong knowledge of the DNA damage and repair fields are also both highly desirable.

This is a full-time post, offered for 2 years in the first instance.
