Scientist / Post-doc in CAR-T Cell Engineering & Immunotherapy (M / F) : Wuerzburg, Germany

The Cancer Immunotherapy Research Lab (Lead: Dr. Michael Hudecek) at the Universitätsklinikum Würzburg (Department of Medicine II, Chair: Prof. Dr. Hermann Einsele)

is inviting applications for a

Scientist / Post-doc in CAR-T Cell Engineering & Immunotherapy (m/f)

Our group is leading the research effort on tumor-reactive chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-modified T cells in Europe and strives to develop novel ground-breaking CAR technologies that are translated into clinical applications of CAR-T cells to cure cancer.

Your challenge: The candidate will be able to work on a highly-visible, high-impact project designed for a more than 3 years period. The project is linked to a clinical trial with CAR-T cells performed at our institution and will involve supervising the manufacture of clinical-grade CAR-T cells and performing/supervising immune-monitoring for the clinical trial. Further, the applicant will develop and test novel, innovative CAR-T cell engineering technologies that enhance antitumor reactivity and safety, and facilitate CAR-T cell production. The project will start in September of 2017.

Your profile: Applicants for this position should have a strong background in immunology and bioengineering and ideally, already have several years of work experience after completing their PhD. Key characteristics of successful applicants include an extraordinary level of work ethic and enthusiasm, a team and result-oriented work style, excellent skills in communication, presentation and organization, as well as the ability to face scientific challenges with creativity and dedication.

Your team: Our lab provides a stimulating and nurturing environment with an international team of experienced, highly-motivated and successful scientists. The applicant and project will also benefit from our international team of outstanding collaborators and partners in academia and industry. Our department runs one of the largest hematology and cancer immunotherapy programs in Europe, and provides numerous opportunities for bench to bedside interaction, education and clinical translation.
