Postdoctoral Training Fellow in Bioinformatics and Cancer Metabolism : London, United Kingdom

Postdoctoral Training Fellow in Bionformatics and Cancer Metabolism

This is a full-time fixed term position for 4 years on Crick Terms & Conditions of Employment

Salary: Competitive with benefits, subject to skills and experience

THE GROUP
Altered metabolism is one of the cancer hallmarks and offers promising opportunities for designing new therapies. One of the biggest challenges in understanding how to target the altered metabolism of tumours effectively is inter and cross-tumour heterogeneity. The project is a part of CRUK Grant Challenge Award funded program and aims to evaluate how metabolic changes are aligned with genetic profiles of tumours using in vivo models and mass spectrometry imaging. The post holder will be a part of the team of researchers in Mariia Yuneva’s lab and will also interact with researchers from National Physical Laboratory and other groups in the Consortium.
The successful candidate is likely to be an energetic, focused, and productive individual with a desire to work in a congenial, dynamic, and collaborative research environment. Good organisational, analytical, and communication skills are essential.

PROJECT SUMMARY
The Postdoctoral Scientist will use computational genomic, transcriptomic, metabolic and metabolic imaging analysis to evaluate the relationship between metabolism, genetic lesions and cellular composition in patient breast cancer samples and ex vivo models derived from them.
Specific objectives will include, but not be limited to:

• Perform gene expression analysis, next generation sequencing analysis, metabolomics and flux analysis, statistical and regression analysis, high-dimensional data integration.
• Regularly attend and participate in scientific meetings in Mariia Yuneva’s lab, several larger interest groups and forums at the Crick as well as Consortium meetings.
• Liaise with external collaborators and visit collaborators’ labs to perform shared experiments
• Writing and contributing to the preparation of scientific manuscripts, reports, presentations and records of experimental plans and results
• Supervising and providing technical advice to more junior members of the team when appropriate
