Postdoctoral Fellow - Computer Scientist in Image Analysis : Heidelberg

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany), with additional sites in Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton (UK) and Monterotondo (Italy).

The Schwab team (EMBL Heidelberg) seeks a computer scientist to contribute to method development in the field of 3D correlative light and electron microscopy for biological specimens. The project, that will associate image analysis, computer vision and programming to cell and developmental biology, aims at enabling precise imaging of cellular targets in three dimensions. The work will be performed in close collaboration with research groups from EMBL and from international laboratories as well as with industrial partners. 

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in a relevant field and is expected to have a sufficient background in both 3D imaging and computer science. The position requires experience in scripting and the analysis of 3D biological data. The ability to work in a team is essential as EMBL offers a multicultural & interdisciplinary environment.
