RNA Virus Replication and Host Interactions
The Ahlquist laboratory (HHMI, and UW-Madison) is recruiting two additional post-doctoral researchers to study the molecular mechanisms of genome replication and host interactions in positive-strand RNA viruses. Projects include multiple aspects of the structure, assembly and function of viral RNA replication complexes, which are fascinating molecular machines and major targets for virus control. These highly synergistic studies integrate cutting-edge molecular genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, and cryo-electron microscopy with bioinformatics and computational biology.
Successful candidates will join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team with diverse backgrounds and expertise in a well-equipped, interactive research environment on the campus of the UW-Madison. UW-Madison ranks fourth among all U.S. universities for research and development expenditures, exceeding $1.0 billion annually. Madison also ranks among the 'best places to live in the US' and post-docs thrive on its diversity of outdoor and cultural opportunities.
