摘要:

Postdoctoral Position in Microbial Biodesign

Prof. Robert Landick (UW-Madison)NSRA stipend scale

A postdoctoral scholar position is available immediately for a recent PhD to study the regulatory and stress responses of microbes to lignocellulosic hydrolysates and to implement novel biodesign strategies to optimize gene expression for microbial metabolism.  The approach will employ multiomic analysis of regulatory and stress responses using genome-scale analyses of gene expression (RNAseq and ribosome profiling), chemical genomics, and a new generation of quantitative proteomics, followed by computational prediction, implementation, directed evolution, and testing of new strain designs.

The successful candidate will have a solid knowledge base of microbial gene regulation and an ability to conduct or an aptitude to learn state-of-the-art methods for computational analyses of genome-scale data.  Preference will be given to candidates who can start immediately.

Minimum academic qualifications include a PhD in biochemistry, microbiology, or related discipline, or in a quantitative life-science field such as biophysics, bioengineering, or computational biology.  Up to 2 years of postdoctoral experience will be acceptable.  The successful candidate will work independently in a collaborative environment to develop, execute, and publish systems biology and biodesign experiments.  Proficiency with at least one of the following programming languages is preferred:  Python, Perl, Matlab, C++, but a desire to learn and aptitude to learn bioinformatics coding may suffice.  Independence, strong motivation, and good written and oral English communication skills are essential.

This is an outstanding opportunity to train for an independent research career in 21st century microbial sciences.  More information about the lab can be found at http://www.landick.wisc.edu.  More information about bioenergy research at UW-Madison can be found at http://www.glbrc.org.

Applicants should email a single pdf containing a cover letter describing their interests, a CV, contact information for 3 references, and 1-2 relevant publications to rlandick@wisc.edu with "Biodesign Postdoc" in the subject line
