Mission
The Broad Fellows program at the Broad Institute empowers brilliant early-career scientists working at the intersection of biomedical and quantitative science to fearlessly take on some of the most critical challenges of quantitative biology's next decade. Fellows establish independent research programs prior to accepting faculty positions, and develop and/or apply systematic, unbiased and comprehensive strategies – computational and/or experimental – to tackle these challenges.

Support
The Broad Institute provides full support for Fellows to establish their own independent research programs. The Fellowship provides laboratory space and covers the Fellows' salaries and research expenses, as well as funding for small scientific teams. We anticipate that the Fellows' research will ultimately become self-sustaining as it matures and attracts further funding from federal grants or other sources.
Fellows have full access to the Broad Institute’s technology platforms, are mentored by carefully selected Broad Institute members, and are encouraged to leverage the Broad’s collaborative environment by working with faculty, trainees and staff at both the Broad and our partner institutions (MIT, Harvard, and the Harvard teaching hospitals).
Initial fellowship appointments are for three years, with the possibility of an extension of one to two years. Fellows receive Broad appointments and are eligible for full Broad benefits.

Eligibility
Fellows may come from a variety of backgrounds, including mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, biology, and engineering. Candidates who have not yet done extensive research in biology are welcome. We are particularly interested in candidates with varied and wide scientific interests, a desire to collaborate with others, and a passion for transforming medicine to accelerate the understanding and treatment of disease – the goal at the heart of the Broad’s mission. A track record of scientific excellence and creativity, along with a strong vision and compelling research direction, are key factors for selection. Applicants are expected to have completed their doctorate-level studies by January 2016. They may also be currently employed as postdoctoral researchers, but should not be more than three years beyond graduation.

The application period starts September 14, 2015, and the search committee will start to review applications on October 15, 2015. Candidate(s) who are accepted could start their fellowship immediately. For further information, please visit the Program website: http://www.broad.io/BroadFellows
