Description: The faculty mentor for this position will be Dr.AMALI ESAMARASINGHE. A postdoctoral trainee position is available in the Department of Pediatrics at University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, TN within the Children’s Foundation Research Institute. The research project will be in determining the host-pathogen interactions in influenza virus infections of the asthmatic host. We are exploring the pathways related to eosinophil biology and mucosal immune responses including defensins and IgA.

Qualifications: A strong theoretical knowledge in immunology, especially pertaining to the lung and competence in techniques such as flow cytometry, ELISA, Western blot, qPCR, cell culture (primary and cell lines), and mouse handling are required. Successful candidates will have obtained a Ph.D. in life sciences within the past 2 years and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Candidates must have at least one first author publication in a peer-reviewed journal and be able to work in an interactive and fast-paced laboratory.
