摘要:

Postdoctoral Position in Computational Biology/Bionformatics, Copenhagen University Hospital, Rigshospitalet

A postdoc position for 3 years is available at the Section for Applied Human Molecular Genetics, The Kennedy Center, Department of Clinical Genetics, Copenhagen University Hospital, Rigshospitalet. The position is funded by Velux Foundation.

The Section carries out research focused on the identification of new genes and genetic mechanisms causing rare neurodevelopmental disorders and hereditary eye diseases. The ultimate goal is to improve patient diagnosis, counseling and treatment. The department’s diagnostic medical genetics laboratory is accredited according to ISO 15189:2013, and serves national and international clients with cytogenetic and moleculargenetic analyses.

Project description:
The successful applicant will be part of a multidisciplinary team investigating genetic disorders in eye diseases with special focus on genetics of the retina. Other participants in the research group are one clinical professor and one research professor, two senior scientists, students and medical doctors. We are currently investigating 500 patient samples and a total of 800 samples are to be enrolled. Targeted sequencing of retinal genes followed by whole genome sequencing is carried out to identify mutations in known genes as well as to discover new genes. Genotype-phenotype correlations will be investigated.

Eligibility:
Eligible applications require the following profile.

  • The candidate must have equivalent to a Danish Master degree in a relevant area of bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics or equivalent
  • The candidate must have equivalent to a Danish PhD degree in an area relevant to the project
  • The candidate must have documented practical experience in handling large sequence data and bioinformatics tools
  • Applicants should have excellent knowledge of both written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of bioscience and biomedicine is desirable.
  • We expect a successful applicant to be able to work independently and to develop and implement new research ideas, as well as to contribute positively to the team.

Salary and terms
The appointment is a full time position and terms and salary according to agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (Akademikerne)
