A post for a Research Assistant/Associate is available in the Computer Laboratory at the University of Cambridge to work on the "ENDEAVOUR: Towards a flexible software defined network ecosystem" project in the area of high-speed network monitoring and network traffic measurements. The successful candidate will contribute to open-source hardware/software systems such as those derived from the OSNT (www.osnt.org) and NetFPGA (www.netfpga.org) projects to design, prototype, and evaluate measurement and control ideas to extend the Software Designed Network paradigm.

The successful candidate will work on measurement systems and measurement-derived research and must have:

* Familiarity working with and developing using the full TCP/IP network stack and its associated protocols.

* Excellent hardware programming skills. Experience in FPGA programming and C-Language programming in Linux-based systems.

* Effective verbal and written communication skills.

* Previous experience of working with PhD students, postdocs and colleagues in the group on open-source code, and lead and participate in the preparation of academic publications on the research activities conducted in this area.

* A willingness to work in under-development environments to engage with new challenges involving early-stage platform code and hardware.

The successful candidate should be working towards a PhD, or have obtained a PhD, or have equivalent experience. Good knowledge of English and communication skills are important, as well as a willingness to work with the open-source community to upstream project outputs.
