摘要:

Postdoctoral Researcher in autoimmunity and antibody/B-cell repertoire studies

Karolinska Institutet, Department of Medicine, Solna,Rheumatology research unit

Division
The Rheumatology Unit, at the Department of Medicine, Solna, is an active and internationally
successful research unit. Here clinical, experimental and epidemiological research is conducted in close collaboration with the rheumatology clinic at the Karolinska University Hospital, Solna. The unit has a leading role in several national and international consortia and networks. Work will be conducted in Dr. Caroline Grönwall’s research group that has a focus on understanding the pathogenesis of autoimmune disease with a special interest in B-cells and autoreactive antibodies.

Duties
We are looking for a motivated scientist for a position for a postdoctoral researcher with an interest in antibody engineering, immunology with high-throughput biotechnology methods. The project is primarily focused on studies of B-cell/autoantibody repertoires in autoimmune disease to increase our knowledge about pathogenesis. The work will involve developing and optimizing new single cell methods for high-throughput studies of autoreactive B-cells from patients with rheumatoid arthritis or other autoimmune diseases. We aim to study B-cell specificities as well as clonal diversity in autoimmune patients by constructing antibody libraries and perform next generation sequencing. While the main duties are conducting experimental research the duties may also include administrative tasks (such as ordering and organization).

Entry requirements
The candidate must hold a PhD in a relevant discipline, immunology, biotechnology or equivalent. The applicant should have extensive experience of molecular biology techniques such as generation of DNA constructs, PCR, sequencing and protein analysis. Knowledge in antibody engineering, B-cell biology, transcript analysis or cell assays is beneficial. Similarly, experience of phage display, and next generation sequencing is meriting. The applicant must be willing to work with human blood and tissue samples.

A successful candidate is expected to be open to learning new methods, be responsible, have a positive attitude, function well in team environment and have a good ability for problem solving and independent work. Strong communication skills and proficiency in written and spoken English are a necessity.

A person is eligible for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc.

Application process
An employment application must contain the following documents in English or Swedish:
1. A complete curriculum vitae, including date of the thesis defence, title of the thesis, previous
academic positions, academic title, current position, academic distinctions, and committee work
2. A complete list of publications
3. A summary of current work (no more than one page)
4. Verifications for crediting of illness, military service, work for labour unions or student
organisations, parental leave or similar circumstances
5. Verification from the thesis defence committee or the equivalent (only if the thesis defence is scheduled within three months after the application deadline)

The application is to be submitted through the MyNetwork recruitment system.

The Department of Medicine, Solna, is one of the largest departments at Karolinska Institutet. The department consists of several units that are separated into different research groups. The core activities of the department are research, doctoral education and undergraduate education for medical and biomedical students. The research has three main profiles: allergy, cardiovascular medicine and inflammatory diseases.

Karolinska Institutet is one of the world´s leading medical universities. Its mission is to contribute to the improvement of human health through research and education. Karolinska Institutet accounts for over 40 per cent of the medical academic research conducted in Sweden and offers the country´s broadest range of education in medicine and health sciences. Since 1901 the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet has selected the Nobel laureates in Physiology or Medicine.

Pursuant to the regulations of the Swedish National Archives, applications are kept on file for two years after the appointment has gained legal force. The regulations do not apply to attachments that have been printed or otherwise published.

Karolinska Institutet strives to provide a workplace that has approximately the same number of women and men, is free of discrimination and offers equal opportunity to everyone.
