Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Auditory Neuroscience
Grade 7: £30,434 – £32,277 a year (starting salary on one of the first three points on the scale)
Fixed term post for up to three years

A Postdoctoral Research Scientist is required to work with Dr Kerry Walker, and will become part of the Oxford Auditory Neuroscience Group, which is internationally recognized as a leader in hearing research. You will be working on an integrative approach to uncovering the neural basis of pitch perception, serving as the lead investigator on extracellular recording experiments.

Duties will include the design and implementation of experiments, including programming stimuli and tasks, and building behavioral chambers; training ferrets on psychophysical tasks; recording, analyzing and interpreting data, and animal care.

You will have (or be working towards the submission of) a PhD/DPhil or equivalent in a relevant area of research and a good knowledge of and interest in sensory neuroscience. Practical experience in neuroscience techniques and analysis is required for this post, and you must hold, or be capable of obtaining, a Home Office personal licence (training can be given). You will be skilled in using computer software for the manipulation and analysis of biomedical data (preferably using MATLAB software).

The post is based in the Department of Physiology, Anatomy & Genetics, University of Oxford, Sherrington Building, Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3PT and funded by the BBSRC for up to 3 years. Ideally the post will start on1 October 2015 but this is negotiable.
