Fixed term post until 31 July 2017

A Postdoctoral Research Scientist is required to work in Professor Manuela Zaccolo’s group. The post is ideally suited to a scientist with first-hand experience in biochemical analysis of protein-protein interactions and post-translational modifications applied to cardiac myocytes. Expertise in primary cardiac myocyte isolation would be an advantage.

The post holder’s duties will include cardiomyocytes isolation and culture, the application of strategies for phosphopeptide enrichment, preparation of samples for mass spectrometry, and mass spectrometry data analysis using specialized software. Propagation and maintenance of virus and cell lines, PCR, cloning, immunoblotting and immunstaining; and the maintenance of breeding mouse colonies including genotyping and database management are also required.

The successful candidate must have (or be working towards the submission of) a PhD/DPhil or equivalent in a relevant area of research and a strong background in biochemistry, protein purification and analysis, especially in regard to protein-protein interactions. Experience in mass spectrometry data analysis from heart tissue is also essential. Familiarity with the cAMP/PKA signaling pathway and previous experience in propagation and maintenance of virus and cell lines is desirable.

The post is based in the Department of Physiology, Anatomy & Genetics, University of Oxford, Sherrington Building, Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3PT and funded by the BHF until 31 July 2017.
