You will play the key role in delivering De Montfort University’s contribution to a new major European project (http://www.doremi-fp7.eu/) which is investigating maintaining and improving the health and well-being of the older population of the European Community through a combination of serious games and health monitoring. De Montfort University is providing expertise to the project on the psychological well-being of older people, on the design of cognitive games activities and gamification suited to an older population as well as conducting the evaluation of the intervention amongst UK-based participants. A key feature will be designing to mild cognitive decline in the intended target population. The games-related activities will relate primarily to nutrition, exercise and cognitive agility.

The project has 11 partners from across the European Community although the key partners for DMU’s activity overseas are based in Pisa and Milan in Italy. UK travel will be required to visit pilot sites in Milton Keynes and the West Midlands, and some European travel will be required in order to liaise with partners.

You should possess a PhD in Psychology, and ideally should have post-doc research experience. You should be able to apply quantitative statistical methods for data analysis, conduct research to a high academic standard, and be able to produce journal and conference papers in English. You should have an interest in computer games, and in the well-being of older people. You will be required to undergo a DBS check.
