Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, adjacent to the UCLA and the USC, is the largest academic medical center in the western United States. The goal of my research lab is to develop and apply cutting-edge mass spec-based proteomics technologies to identify novel cancer biomarkers and delineate the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer progression to lethal diseases. Previously, we developed a novel technology for proteome-scale characterization of protein palmitoylation, the only reversible lipid modification that regulates cancer cell signaling (Mol Cell Proteomics, 2010, 9: 54; Blood, 2011, 6: 2982). Very recently, we have developed a highly sensitive phosphoproteomics method that enables the identification of >6,000 phosphosites within 4 hours, and an ultra-deep proteomics profiling method that allows the identification of over 10,000 protein groups from a single cancer cell line. Currently, we are seeking a self-motivated postdoctoral scientist to lead a project investigating the role of palmitoylating enzymes in prostate cancer progression to metastasis and castration resistance, by integrating all the leading-edge technologies that we have developed. The successful candidate will work closely with nationally prominent cancer researchers, computational biologists, cell biologists, and molecular pathologists.

The successful applicant must hold a PhD or equivalent in proteomics, cancer biology, or a related discipline. Applicant must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and possesses excellent oral and written skills. Strong expertise in mass spec-based proteomics, molecular cloning, and/or animal experiments is required. The successful applicant must be interested in participating in a collaborative environment.
