A Postdoctoral Fellow research position is available at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler (UT Health Northeast, http://www.uthct.edu/). The multidisciplinary program is in the area of influenza, where we have recently focused on boosting lungs innate immunity that markedly reduces mortality in an animal model (http://ajrccm.atsjournals.org/cgi/reprint/201012-2036OCv1.pdf). The postdoctoral fellow will focus on delineating the mechanisms of innate immunity, and developing GM-CSF-based strategies to prevent and treat influenza.


Applicants should have a strong scientific background and technical expertise in microbial immunology, standard molecular biology and animal models. Research at UT Health Northeast is highly interactive and collaborative, and we expect successful candidate to contribute to our intellectually open culture, to publish in refereed journals, and to collaborate with other lab members. Creative, independent thinkers with a Ph.D. in microbiology/virology, immunology, biochemistry, cell biology or molecular biology are encouraged to apply.
