摘要:
Postdoctoral Associate- Genetics & Circuitry of Sleep : Baltimore, MD, United States

A postdoctoral associate position is available to study the molecular and genetic basis of sleep in Drosophila. We use sophisticated genetic approaches in the fruit fly to study the genes and circuitry underlying sleep, a fundamental and evolutionary conserved behavior. We are currently studying 1) the mechanisms underlying sleep homeostasis, 2) the function of sleep in neural plasticity, and 3) specific dopaminergic circuits that modulate behavior in response to internal states. To carry out these studies, we combine molecular and genetic approaches with high throughput behavioral analyses, immunohistochemical techniques, in vivo patch-clamp electrophysiology, and in vivo functional imaging. Applicants should have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. and be energetic, creative, and highly motivated. Background in biochemistry, electrophysiology, and/or systems biology is desirable.
