摘要:

A postdoctoral opportunity is available at an expanded Quantitative Proteomics Center at Columbia University. The position is in a mass spectrometry laboratory involved in continuing collaborations with some of the premier researchers at Columbia and at peer institutions in New York. Emphasis is on applying mass spectrometry to the study of posttranslational modifications (PTMs) (phosphorylation, acetylation, etc.) as well as an opportunity to participate in studies of global metabolite profiling, in support of all aspects of stem cell science and other areas of biology with high impact.

The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in a relevant field and proven expertise in studying PTMs using shotgun proteomics with nanoflow liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry on the Orbitrap platform. The candidate should also have demonstrated successful experience in doing peptide enrichments for PTMs using antibody or metal affinity technologies. Interest or experience in metabolite profiling would be an asset to the successful candidate. Participation in that aspect of the work is optional

In our shared laboratory research pipeline, we participate in experimental design and provide protocols to collaborating researchers who grow cells, harvest tissues and provide protein or metabolite extracts to us for large-scale profiling. These research samples include cell cultures, tissues from animal models, affinity pulldowns, clinical samples or microbial cultures. We then perform chemical processing, any peptide enrichments, LC/MS and computational and pathway analysis.

Duration of this position is for up to four years. Salary is in the $50,000+ range. The position will include continuing opportunities to contribute to development of grant proposals and to co-author publications with leading collaborators. Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills.

The laboratory is located on the main campus of Columbia University, a leafy oasis with the unrivaled cultural and social opportunities that New York provides.
