Job Description
Job Purpose
Postdoctoral Associates are trainees working in an apprenticeship mode in preparation for a career as a scientific professional
Job Responsibilities
We are seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented postdoctoral associate to join a laboratory in the Department of Molecular Physiology & Biophysics at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston Texas. The overarching goal of our lab is to understand how organelles communicate within the cell.
Current projects focus on:
The mechanisms my which NADPH oxidase alters autophagy.
The role of alterations in Ca2+ homeostasis in production of reactive oxygen species and alterations in autophagic flux.
The role of the lysosome as a signaling hub in skeletal muscle.
The lab uses molecular biology and biochemical techniques, confocal fluorescent imaging, fluorescent detection of reactive oxygen species production, immuno-fluorescence imaging, in-vivo electroporation of cDNA constructs, along with in-vitro and in-vivo force measurements to assess sub-cellular reactive oxygen species production and Ca2+ signaling in skeletal muscle. The strongest candidates will possess extensive experience with the use of mouse models, fluorescent imaging, live cell imaging, biochemistry, molecular biology, and have strong quantitative/computational skills. Attention to detail, a strong work ethic, excellent communication and organizational skills, and an ability to work both independently and as a member of a team is critical.
Applicants should provide a curriculum vitae and the contact information of at least three individuals who would provide reference letters to Rodney@bcm.edu.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Ph.D in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
Experience: None required.
