Postdoc In AMR And Microbiome Research In Pigs

Your job We strive for a postdoc that is both self-standing and able to work in a team environment. Your main tasks will be to carry out laboratory and computer- based research as well as writing of manuscripts and grant applications. You will also be involved in teaching in the form of lectures and laboratory supervision of MSc and BSc students.

Profile We are looking for a highly motivated, ambitious and enthusiastic scientist with an outstanding record of independent research on AMR and bacterial genomics and documented experience in metagenomics analysis. Applicants should have the following qualifications:

Essential experience and skills:

A PhD in microbiology or biology applied to bacteria

A strong background in microbiology, including identification, genotyping and antimicrobial susceptibility testing

An excellent publication record in relation to career stage, including articles covering the two areas of this position

An active interest in bioinformatics applied to genome sequencing and metagenomics

Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams

Excellent English skills written and spoken

Desirable experience and skills:

Experience in bioinformatics analysis of sequencing data

Experience in preparation of libraries for 16s rRNA gene and/or shotgun sequencing

Place of employment

The place of employment is at the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories that are fully equipped to perform traditional and molecular microbiology, including omics.

Terms of employment The employment as postdoc is a full time and fixed-term position for 2 years. Starting date is 1st May 2021 or shortly after.

Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). Currently, the monthly salary starts at 34,622 DKK/ approx. 4,655 Euro (February 2021-level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Non-Danish and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

The position is covered by the “Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at the Universities” of January 2020.
