Applications are invited for a postdoctoral fellow position in the laboratory of Professor Annarita Di Lorenzo at the Weill Cornell Medical College, New York, USA.

The laboratory is highly focused on studying the role and regulation of sphingolipid metabolism and signaling in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular system, in both physiological and pathological conditions. The laboratory utilizes multiple approaches involving cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, histology in conjunction with surgical interventions in mice. A post-doctoral position is available to study the role of sphingolipids in atherosclerosis by using a recent published novel mouse model able to develop coronary lesions that progress to myocardial infarction, closely recapitulating human conditions (Marino A et al, 2019, JCI Insight).

Applicants should hold a PhD or MD/PhD degree with less than two years of postdoctoral experience. Preferred expertise includes but is not limited to

mouse models of diseases and/or specifically in heart failure; proficiency in cell, molecular and lipid biology, histology, biochemistry.

Ideal candidates must have good written/oral communications skills, a strong ability to work effectively in a team environment, be highly organized, with a proven record of research accomplishments. The candidate is expected to participate in research postdoctoral grant preparations, manuscript writing and presentation of research results at professional conferences.

The laboratory is well-funded and is located in one of the most dynamic research environments in New York city, and part of the Cardiovascular Research Institute and Feil Family Brain & Mind Research Institute. The lab also takes advantage of active scientific interactions with research community at nearby Rockefeller University and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, therefore offering many exciting opportunities for career development.
