美国哥伦比亚大学欧文医学中心数学基因组学项目博士后研究科学家职位

The Program for Mathematical Genomics group at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (https://systemsbiology.columbia.edu/the-program-for-mathematical-genomics) is a cross campus interdisciplinary effort that brings together evolutionary biologists, computer scientists, physicists and mathematicians, to uncover the structure of genomic data and to study the maps that link genotype to phenotype.  It constitutes a space for the free exchange of ideas and methods of quantitatively- minded scientists with a the goal to of provide achieving a quantitative understanding of biological systems. We collaborate with clinicians and public health researchers from around the world to explore several disease systems, including the genetics and epidemiology of infectious diseases, cancer, and the human microbiome; as well as carry out basic biological research in microbial metabolism, and protein structure and function; and the modeling of biological networks  prediction based using on large scale biologically-motivated machine learning. We are building a vibrant community of researchers who use their insights and techniques to solve pressing biomedical problems in translational and basic biology.

We are now seeking postdoctoral researchers to join a creative team in a collaborative environment developing mathematical techniques for the analysis of high-dimensional, high-throughput sequencing and biological data.

Candidate qualifications include:

•PhD degree in any quantitative science (preferably mathematics, computer science, physics, astrophysics, computational biology, statistics, or engineering) is required.

•Expertise in high-throughput sequencing technologies is highly valued.

•Experience with clinical data from large biobanks is also highly valued.

•Candidates should have a working knowledge of programming (Python, R, Java or C++) and statistical analysis with demonstrated experience in problem solving.

•Practical knowledge of algorithms and databases is required.

•Excellent organizational and communication skills are a must.

Applications are open until all positions are filled, no later than October 15, 2020.
