  Position Summary:The Iyengar Lab in the Department of Chemistry at Indiana University is taking applications for postdoctoral research position. The opportunity is at the interface of condensed phase quantum dynamics, quantum information and quantum simulation. The prospective candidate should have a strong background in quantum dynamics, electronic structure, computational methods, and will have the opportunity to learn about quantum information, quantum computing, quantum simulation, ion-lattice quantum simulators and will assist in the development of new quantum algorithms. The candidate will have the opportunity to actively collaborate with experimental physics groups that develop ion-lattice simulators, computer science groups that deal with logic, semantics and compilers, and inorganic chemists dealing with the coupled behavior of electrons and nuclei. Indiana University has a new “quantum science and engineering center” (IU- QSEc) with people from chemistry, physics, computer science, engineering and the business school. This center will allow the post-doctoral associate to have opportunities for career development in this important new area of great national interest.   Basic Qualifications:Required Qualifications: A PhD in theoretical chemistry/theoretical or computational physics or related field/chemical physics with a strong computing background in computational method development in quantum dynamics and /or electronic structure is desired.

  Additional Qualifications:Preferred Qualifications: PhD in theoretical chemistry or physics or computer science with published research experience in either theoretical chemistry methods development, with quantum information would be an added plus.
