  Description of Area or Topic of Research: The postdoctoral fellow will develop artificial neural networks to help identify and analyze radiation-induced features in electron micrographs of neutron and ionirradiated zirconium alloys and zirconium hydrides. This work will involve collaboration with the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories. It will also involve ionirradiations that will be performed at the Reactor Material Testing Laboratory (RMTL https://rmtl.engineering.queensu.ca/) at Queen’s University.

  Supervision and Academic Unit: Professors Laurent Béland & Mark Daymond

  Start Date and Duration of Appointment: 1 year appointment, renewable 1 year.

  Flexible start date: Fall 2020 or Winter 2021.

  Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Materials Science, Mathematics or a similar quantitative discipline. Experience in machine vision and deep learning will be considered a significant asset. Experience with ion irradiation and transmission electron microscopy will be considered an asset. Experience with software development and computer simulations will be considered an asset.
