  What You Will Do

The Chemistry for Biomedical Applications (CBMA) team within the Physical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy group is seeking a well-rounded molecular biology or biochemistry PhD graduate to join their team as a post-doctoral researcher. The CBMA team works on the development of medical countermeasures that include diagnostics, vaccines and therapeutics.

The post-doc will provide technical expertise for the development of novel medical countermeasures that can include diagnostic assay development, biomarker characterization and the study of host-pathogen interactions. They will act as a representative for the CBMA team by attending group and team meetings.

The post-doc will be responsible for reporting research results back to the team at weekly meetings and keeping official laboratory notebooks. In addition, the post-doc will be encouraged to attend seminars that interest them and will be given networking opportunities within the lab. They will also be expected to present their work at conferences and to sponsors.

  Where You Will Work

Located in northern New Mexico, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. LANL enhances national security by ensuring the safety and reliability of the U.S. nuclear stockpile, developing technologies to reduce threats from weapons of mass destruction, and solving problems related to energy, environment, infrastructure, health, and global security concerns.

The Physical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy (C-PCS) Group addresses national and international problems by exploiting the measurement and diagnostic power of light, which is the fastest clock and the smallest ruler. We work with a diverse range of customers to execute research projects which span basic R&D and device creation through application and deployment of systems and methods for applied missions.
