  迈阿密大学微生物学和免疫学博士后招聘

  About This Position

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate. We are seeking a highly motivated, ambitious, creative, and dynamic postdoctoral research fellow to join Dr. Serafini’s, NIH-funded, translational group for projects in immunology, targets discovery, and in vivo targeted delivery of therapeutics and imaging reagents. Our group is pioneering the use of RNA therapeutics for the in vivo genetic modulation of beta cells and tumor infiltrating myeloid cells. This allows an unprecedented opportunity not only to understand the beta cell biology in diabetes and myelopoiesis in cancer, but also for the development of new therapeutics for clinical use. The main project that the Postdoctoral Associate will be involved in is delivery of therapeutics to human beta cells using newly discovered RNA aptamers specific for human and mouse beta cells. Thus, the candidate must possess skills in molecular biology, sh-, sa-, and guide- RNA and proven experience in manipulating pancreatic islets and work with animal models.

  Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. or other doctoral degree in molecular biology, endocrinology, immunology, or similar fields or M.D. Prefer proven experience in molecular biology and RNA. Good knowledge of aptamer technology and beta cell biology. Ability to successfully handle samples and perform immunology techniques and cell culture in a BSL2 setting. Must have a strong record of productivity and publication in the field of pancreatic islets and/or diabetes. Proficiency in oral and written English is required. Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
