  With around 3 700 full-time equivalent students, 500 employees and 160 international partner universities, the main subjects of economics and law, and its four departments, the School of Business, Economics and Law offers a unique range. The School also provides unique collaborations with industry and the public sector. The School of Business, Economics and Law is EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA accredited, making it the only business school in Sweden with Triple Crown accreditation.

  The Department of Economics belong to the School of Business, Economics and Law at University of Gothenburg and has around 100 employees from several countries. The teaching within the department is economics and statistics and has around 800 students registered at courses and programs. A diversity of researchers are located at the department where several of them are internationally well known economists. The conducting research is within a broad range of areas, including labor, health, environmental, development, behavioral, and financial economics.   Applications are welcome for a two-year post-doctoral position in Environmental Economics, Department of Economics, University of Gothenburg. The Environmental Economics Unit is an exciting and dynamic research group with a large number of projects on environment and natural resources. The focus of our work is on policy instrument design or valuation. We work closely with behavioral, experimental and development economics.

  Job assignments

  The position involves mainly research. The research is on environmental economics, with a focus on empirical evaluation of biodiversity offsets. In particular, the candidate is expected to collect and analyze data from existing datasets to identify key determinants of the performance of biodiversity offsets programs around the world. The position is funded by the research program BECC on climate change - particularly forestry and land use (https: // www. becc.lu.se/). The candidate is expected to contribute to the research within BECC and to participate in research meetings, seminars and conferences. We expect candidates to aim at publishing in leading or highly ranked journals.

  There will be funds available for travel and shorter visits to other universities, as well as support for conducting empirical studies, but the candidate should also aim at developing external research grants.

  Qualifications

  Qualifications to the employment as Post-doctor are given in the Employment Procedure for teachers (Anställningsordning för lärare) at University of Gothenburg (reference number V 2018/1161). Applicants should hold a recent PhD in economics. Candidates who hold a PhD degree not older than 3 years counting from last date of application should foremost be considered for the employment.

  Previous research in empirical evaluation of environmental policies in biodiversity, machine learning and computational linguistics is highly valuable. The applicant who, in the overall assessment of skills and potential, is deemed to be best suited to carry out the identified job assignments will be selected for the position. Research potential will be our key selection criterion, with a particular emphasis on the degree of progression and forward-looking aspects of the research. The applicants’ skills in collaborating internally, externally and in an interdisciplinary context will be given weight. International education and experience is also valuable.

  The candidate must master English in speech and writing.

  Employment

  A position as Post-doctor aims to give new holders of the doctorate the opportunity to strengthen and develop their scholarly proficiency.

  The employment as Post-doctor is a temporary employment during 2 years with an extent of 100 %, located at the Department of Economics, University of Gothenburg. Starting date is September 2020.
