  加州理工大学大气科学、极地系统科学方向博士后职位招聘

  Overview

New ideas are all around us, but only a few will change the world. That’s our focus at JPL. We ask the biggest questions, then search the universe for answers—literally. We build upon ideas that have guided generations, then share our discoveries to inspire generations to come. Your mission—your opportunity—is to seek out the answers that bring us one step closer. If you’re driven to discover, create, and inspire something that lasts a lifetime and beyond, you’re ready for JPL.

Located in Pasadena, California, JPL has a campus-like environment situated on 177 acres in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains and offers a work environment unlike any other: we inspire passion, foster innovation, build collaboration, and reward excellence.

  Responsibilities

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, seeks exceptional candidates to help lead a joint NASA-ESA research synthesis on the Arctic Methane Challenge. Researchers with expertise in Arctic biogeochemical cycling, permafrost, methanogenesis, and atmospheric trace gas analyses are strongly encouraged to apply. Dr. Charles Miller will serve as the postdoctoral advisor to the successful candidate. The appointee will interact with an international science team on critical Arctic research, lead major publications, and present results at international conferences (at least two per year).

  Qualifications

Candidates should have a recent PhD in Atmospheric Science, Arctic System Science, Carbon Cycle Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field.  Experience with Arctic research and field work strongly desired.  Excellent writing and communication skills and a record of high-impact scientific publications are expected.  Fluency in one or more major European languages (Spanish, French, German, Italian) is a plus.  Candidates who have received their PhD within the past five years since the date of their application are eligible.  Postdoctoral Scholar positions are awarded for a minimum of one-year period and may be renewed up to a maximum duration of three years.  Candidates should submit the following to this site: CV, representative publications, contact information for three references, and a cover letter stating their research accomplishments and interests.  Applications received by 1 April 2020 will receive full consideration.
