  Job Description

  The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine's Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate in Dr. Michal Toborek's laboratory. The main focus of the research will be on molecular and cellular mechanisms of injury to the brain endothelium and the blood-brain barrier. The work will involve both cell culture research and animal experiments. The candidate for this position is a recent doctoral graduate, who is highly motivated and has expertise in neuroscience, virology, molecular biology, cellular techniques, and/or animal experimentation.   Minimum Qualifications

  The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Ph.D., M.D., or other doctoral-level degree in a relevant discipline. Prefer knowledge in one or more of the following: neuroscience, virology, molecular biology, cellular techniques, and/or animal experimentation.

  Patient safety is a top priority. As a result, during the Influenza ("the flu") season (September through April), the University of Miami School of Medicine requires all employees who provide ongoing services to patients, work in a location (all Hospitals and clinics) where patient care is provided, or work in patient care or clinical care areas, to have an annual influenza vaccination. Failure to meet this requirement will result in rescinding or termination of employment.
