  CAMPSIGNALTRANSDUCTION

NIH funded postdoctoral fellowships are immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Altschuler in the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology at the University of Pittsburgh. Pitt is one of the top universities in the US, currently ranked #4 in NIH grant funding, and has a very stimulating environment for talented young researchers.

Altschuler lab studies early cell signaling events in cAMP-dependent cell proliferation using a multidisciplinary approach. We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to work on a project focused on the spatiotemporal control of cAMP signaling utilizing FRET-based cAMP biosensors coupled to novel chemo-optogenetic tools to determine the role of specific cAMP microdomains in cell proliferation [JBC 2019; 294 (4), 1095-1103; JBC 2018; 293(20):7659-73].

  Required Qualifications:

  • Applicants should have a PhD in Biochemistry/Biophysics with a strong publication record.

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.

  • Strong background in molecular and cellular biology with experience using viral vectors and gene editing techniques.

  • Proven hands-on experience in fluorescence microscopy and image processing, including FRET-based live cell imaging approaches.

  • Programming experience (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Java) highly desirable.

  • Willingness to incorporate the use of animal models.

Salary is commensurate with experience and based on current NIH guidelines. The fellow should be eligible for employment in the U.S. Start date is immediate. The University of Pittsburgh is an Equal Opportunity Employer for EEO/AA/M/F/Vets/Disabled.

Review of applications will begin immediately until these positions are filled. The University of Pittsburgh offers a comprehensive salary program and excellent benefits in a smoke and drug-free workplace. University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages applications from under-represented groups.

Please address all inquiries to Dr. Altschuler (altschul@pitt.edu). Applications should include a cover letter, CV, and the names and email addresses of three references with whom you have recently worked.
