  ROLE of the POSITION

  The UNLV School of Allied Health Sciences, Department of Health Physics and Diagnostic Sciences, is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral researcher in the field of neuroimaging. The William Werner Orrison Jr. Postdoctoral Scholar in Neuroimaging is a collaborative effort between UNLV and a local diagnostic imaging center (SimonMed Imaging). The Fellowship will be mentored by Dr. Travis Snyder, a neuroradiologist. The research team includes two full time neuroimaging fellows, a number of medical students, a computer programmer and a statistician. This is a two-year position for someone with a strong background in neuroimaging. Candidates with a background in other diagnostic medical imaging areas will also be considered. Projects include: MRI of head trauma using perfusion, DTI, fMRI, NeuroQuant and SWI; Alzheimer’s and mild cognitive impairment; carbon monoxide exposure; and development of pulse sequences through a collaboration with Siemens and GE. Additional research opportunities are available with national experts in the Dept. of Defense and the Enigma group. Collaborations are also ongoing with the Mind Research Network. SimonMed is a national imaging company with over 100 centers in 7 states; large patient volumes offer unique opportunities for exciting projects. Candidates will also have the opportunity to work on national cancer screening projects including whole body diffusion and automated breast ultrasound studies with thousands of subjects.

  QUALIFICATIONS

  This position requires a doctorate in medical physics, engineering, physics or a related field from an accredited college or university.

  SALARY RANGE

  Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
