(University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign)的博士后研究助理职位。

  Postdoctoral Position Available

  Single Molecule Live Cell Imaging

  Department of Bioengineering

  University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

The Department of Bioengineering and Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology seek applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and interdisciplinary team in the lab of Prof. Andrew Smith that develops and applies nanoparticle imaging agents (quantum dots) for single molecule imaging and quantitative molecular analysis http://smithlab.bioen.illinois.edu/. The successful applicant will use imaging to study the process of gene delivery in living cells and tissues in order to dramatically improve transformation efficiencies of recalcitrant crops including cowpea and cassava. The research project is a part of multi-institutional effort to address the global food challenge via the Realizing Increased Photosynthetic Efficiency (RIPE) program funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR), and Department for International Development (DFID).

We are interested in self-motivated candidates with a Ph.D. who are enthusiastic and passionate about tackling biological problems, with demonstrated publication and closely related research experience in quantitative image analysis, advanced optical microscopy techniques, and single molecule imaging. No prior experience is needed in plant biology; the candidate will be trained in related techniques by theRIPE team.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The initial appointment is for one year with a performance-based extension for a second year. The anticipated start date is as soon as possible. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

To apply, submit a cover letter including a description of research expertise, complete C.V., and contact information for both yourself and three references to Dr. Vladimir Kolossov (viadimer@illinois.edu) by April 30, 2019. Specify in the subject line of email that this is for Smith Lab Opening.

The University of Illinois conducts criminal background checks on all job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer.
