Highly motivated, organized individual sought for a position as a research fellow in a laboratory at the Life Sciences Institute of the University of Michigan. Research Project aims to identify targets that can be exploited therapeutically for the treatment of obesity and associated metabolic disorders, through regulating adaptive thermogenesis in brown and beige adipocytes. We recently identified a novel regulatory pathway for beige fat activation (Nature Medicine, 2018, 24(6): 814-822). The research is funded by grants from NIH, ADA and many other funding agencies. Applicants have less than 12 months post-degree experience may be eligible to apply two highly prestigious and competitive postdoc programs: Michigan Life Science Fellows Programs (https://lifescifellows.umich.edu) and Michigan Postdoctoral Pioneer Program (https://umichpioneerprogram.org/), both of which provide additional salary and financial resources, along with flexibility and freedom to pursue research ideas.

Experimental duties will include but are not limited to:

Molecular biology, PCR, DNA and RNA purification, plasmid cloning, gene expression analysis by qPCR and western blotting. Mammalian cell culture with both immortalized cell lines and primary cell isolation and differentiation. Retroviral or adenoviral techniques are preferred. The research will involve genetic rodent models, so experience with mouse genetics and animal physiology is preferred. Experience in the metabolic field is preferred.

  Starting date: ASAP

  Required Qualifications:

Ph.D. in fields related to biomedical sciences, publications in high profile journals as a primary author and three experts in the related fields as references.
