  We are seeking an individual with a PhD and/or MD with research interests in Immunology to become part of a growing glyco-immunology research program in the lab.

  The prospective postdoc will focus on elucidating B- and T-cell dynamics and immunogen design elements for the priming and promotion of broadly neutralizing antibody responses to oligomannose-type glycans on HIV-1 gp120 (Pantophlet et. al Nat Comm 2017). This project will contribute directly to the development of an effective HIV/AIDS vaccine and involves collaborators in Canada, the US and Europe. The prospective postdoc will be involved in all aspects of the project and be given opportunity to present his/her work at national and international meetings.

  Qualifications:

  Required scientific background and expertise:

  1) A PhD or MD/PhD degree in immunology or other closely-related discipline within the last 12 months with a strong publication record in mid- to top-tier journals

  2) High proficiency with the following techniques :

  o Mammalian cell culture;

  o Molecular biology;

  o Multi-color flow cytometry;

  o Methods for studying protein/protein interactions (e.g. Surface Plasmon Resonance or Bio-layer interferometry).

  Preference will be given to applicants experienced in B cell immunology, antibody cloning and B cell repertoire analyses.

  Additional requirements:

  > Strong interpersonal skills with experience in designing experiments and achieving goals.

  > Strong self-motivation and critical thinking skills.

  > Strong mentorship skills/interest

  > Demonstrable ability to arrange and present data using computer graphics software.

The post is full-time and for 2 years initially, with possibility for extension based on performance and funding.

  2) A detailed academic CV; and

  3) The names of three prospective academic references.
