  Job Description

Two postdoctoral positions are available in the Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI) at the University of California, San Francisco. The laboratory of Dr. Biao Wang takes an integrative approach by utilizing Drosophila genetics and rodent models to study molecular mechanisms underlying energy homeostasis. One project is to determine regulatory roles of Salt-inducible kinases (SIKs) and their relevant substrates in insulin-sensitive tissues including but not limited to liver, adipose and muscle. Another project is to investigate mitochondrial functions in brown adipose tissue. The postdoc should be familiar with various molecular and cellular techniques, and in vivo animal studies.

Requirements: Candidates must have received a recent M.D. or Ph.D. or equivalent degree and have one or more publications in peer-reviewed journals. This position requires strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with others with diverse areas of expertise within UCSF campus. Candidates who posses a strong motivation to pursue academic research are encouraged to apply.

Additional Information: Salary and benefits are commensurate with NIH guidelines. Applicants should include a brief cover letter highlighting the applicant’s research experience and interests, along with full curriculum vitae and names and contact information of 3 references. Interested candidates should email their application materials to: Dr. Biao Wang, email: biao.wang@ucsf.edu
