  This NERC funded post is available immediately until the end of the project in October 2021 to participate in research into the physical science of climate hazards and their changes under climate change and forms part of the large NERC consortium project 'Emergence of Climate Hazards' (EMERGENCE).

  The University of Exeter is a Russell Group university in the top 200 of universities worldwide.   The post

  You will be required to work as part of a wider team, using climate model output and physical understanding to make better climate projections of hazards over the coming century. The post will look at mid-latitude storm tracks or at ENSO-related precipitation hazards (depending on your expertise).

  The post will include using and developing process-based diagnostics and manipulation of climate model output with physical understanding to answer questions in support of publications relevant for the IPCC.

  The level of appointment will be based on your qualifications and experience.

  About you

  You will

  Be able to develop research objectives and make presentations at conferences and other events

  Possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study

  Possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies

  Be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required

  Be able to manipulate complex climate model datasets, assess physical processes and prepare papers for publication in high quality journals.
