The group of Dr. Barbara Schraml is looking for a postdoc to help dissect the developmental and functional heterogeneity of dendritic cells in health and disease. Dendritic cells are versatile controllers of immunity with crucial roles in innate and adaptive immunity. In neonates these cells are qualitatively distinct from adults, presumably to establish early life immune balance essential for survival. The project that will be led by the candidate aims to define the mechanisms underlying the age-dependent regulation of dendritic cell function using in vivo mouse models, functional genomics and single cell technologies, as well as innovative imaging techniques.

The position is available in the group of Dr. Barbara Schraml at the Ludwig Maximilians University, Munich, Germany and is funded by a Starting Grant from European Research Council. The post is located in state of the art laboratories at the new Biomedical Center of the LMU with access to excellent dedicated core facilities for flow cytometry, bioimaging and bioinformatics. For more information regarding our research interests please visit: https://www.schraml-lab.de/

You should be creative and a good team player wanting to take an active role in a young, dynamic and international research team. A doctoral degree in Immunology, Cell Biology or Biochemistry is expected, although applicants with a degree in physics or bioengineering and an interest in life sciences are also welcome to apply. Previous experience in immunology is desirable. Expertise in flow cytometry, gene expression profiling and/or working with in vivo models are a plus. Proficiency in English is required. The position offers a competitive salary according to the German public service scale (TV-L).

Send enquiries and applications directly to Dr. Barbara Schraml (barbara.schraml@med.uni-muenchen.de) and quote: PD2018. Please include merged in a single pdf file: a CV, list of publications, a short statement of research interests and why you chose to apply for this position, names and contact information of two references.

Severely disabled applicants will be preferentially considered in case of equal qualification.
