摘要:西奈山伊坎医学院计算生物学研究方向博士后招聘Assistant or Associate Professor in Computational Biology (tenure track or research track)

Assistant or Associate Professor in Computational Biology (tenure track or research track)

Mount Sinai, located in New York, NY is seeking exceptional Assistant or Associate Professor tenure-track or non-tenure track (research track) faculty candidates to lead ambitious data driven research programs in the Icahn Institute for Data Science and Genomic Technology (datascience.icahn.mssm.edu).

As biomedical research becomes an increasingly data-intensive science, success will require a goal-directed, team-oriented approach in which innovations and ideas developed by computational researchers working on related problems serve to build on and enhance the work of all team members. We seek faculty members interested in working in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment in which interdisciplinary teams of data scientists, technology innovators, and experts in key diseases work together with the shared goal of leveraging large-scale data, coupled with applications of advanced genomic technologies, to predict, test, and translate novel therapies faster and more effectively.

Mount Sinai is ranked as one of the nation’s top biomedical institutions in research, patient care, education. Since 2011, Mount Sinai has made major investments to attract world class people and build state of the art resources for research in biomedical data science, and was recently named by Fast Company as one of the 10 most innovative data science organizations in the world. Data scientists at Mount Sinai benefit from substantial resources, including one of the largest supercomputing centers in any academic medical center, a research data warehouse with over 8 million clinical records, and access to hundreds of thousands of biospecimens across diseases, including rapidly accelerating sequencing efforts that have already reached over 30,000 samples with genomic sequencing data.

Mount Sinai recently announced a major new program to put data science at the center of its institutional precision medicine efforts, including development of functional genomics capabilities to rapidly test data driven predictions, and cross-disciplinary programs to translate data driven predictions to novel therapies in key disease areas, such as cancer and diseases of the immune system, brain, and heart.

Faculty recruits will be appointed in the vibrant Department of Genetics and Genomic sciences, which is currently the 4th ranked genetics department nationally based in NIH funding.

Data science research in the Icahn Institute focuses on integrative analysis of high dimensional heterogeneous molecular, imaging, and clinical data to infer predictive models of biological phenotypes and functional interventions that induce desired phenotypic transitions. Candidates should have advanced training in machine learning, deep learning, or statistical techniques, such as probabilistic graphical models or Bayesian inference, with a track record of innovation in a biomedical application, as evidenced by a strong publication record.

We are seeking candidates with medically relevant research interests, including areas such as: 1) cancer biology; 2) cancer immunotherapy; 3) neurological and psychiatric diseases; 4) immune disease; 5) cardiovascular disease; 6) genetics/genomics; 7) image analysis; 8) development and application of novel machine learning approaches; and 9) translation of clinically relevant predictive models.

Applications should include a CV, research plan, and cover letter. In the cover letter, please clearly state your area of research interest, selected from one or more of the 9 areas listed in the previous paragraph, or an additional area of relevance to the Icahn Institute’s research mission. Please also state whether you are interested in being considered for the tenure track or research track position, or both.

Tenure track candidates are expected to obtain independent funding to grow and sustain their research program. Research track candidates are expected to lead core data science initiatives of the Icahn Institute and contribute to funding applications, without an expectation of obtaining independent funding. If you are applying for one position but would like to be considered for both, please state this in the cover letter.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in computer science, applied mathematics/statistics, computational biology, or another relevant quantitative scientific discipline. M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. candidates with advanced computational training are also encouraged to apply.

We offer highly competitive recruitment packages, strong institutional commitments to faculty support, comprehensive benefits, relocation services, and a rewarding work and life environment. The Icahn School of Medicine is located in the heart of Manhattan with offices one block from Central Park.

Review of applications will begin immediately, and will remain open until positions are filled.

Please send CV, research plan, and cover letter including which position you are interested in to: data@mssm.edu
