　　The University of Strathclyde has been awarded funding by Gene Solutions to find new drugs to treat mitochondrial-related diseases. We are seeking to employ postdoctoral staff from the chemistry and biology disciplines to build a strong, dynamic and productive multi-disciplinary team, capable of achieving key objectives within the timeframe of the programme.

　　In the chemistry field, we will be recruiting a postdoctoral research associate to commence from February 2019. We are looking for self-motivated people that have transferable skills to work in a broad range of chemistries including: traditional wet-chemistry, solid-phase synthesis (including peptides and peptidomimetics), heterocyclic and medicinal chemistry/drug discovery. Though experience in lead optimisation is beneficial, it is not a requirement for this appointment.

　　In the biology field, we are seeking a postdoctoral research associate with expertise in molecular biology, specifically relating to cell culture, molecular cloning, nucleic acid isolation and genetic manipulation. Experience in both gene and protein expression including real-time quantitative PCR assay design and analysis is also required. Although not essential, familiarity with mitochondrial biology would be an advantage. Employment will be for 24 months commencing February 2019.
