  The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £35,328 to £42,701 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

  A postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available in Professor de Bruin’s research group at the MRC Laboratory for Molecular Biology, University College London. The long-term goal of the de Bruin lab is to attain a thorough understanding of the role of cell cycle transcription in the maintenance of genome integrity. The aim of this project is to establish the role of E2F activity in oncogene-induced replication stress using quantitative cell biology and single-cell approaches. The overall aim of this work is to exploit deregulated E2F activity to selectively kill cancer cells.

  The position is available for two years in the first instance and is funded by Cancer Research UK. Salary is at Grade 7 from £35,358 to £42,701 per annum inclusive of London Weighting. If the PhD has not yet been awarded, the appointment will be made at Research Assistant Grade 6B at £30,922 to £32,607 per annum inclusive, with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.

  Key Requirements

  We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated scientist who has completed or is about to complete a PhD in quantitative cell biology and is capable of working to a high standard.

  Expertise in both experimental and computational work is a requirement and experience in single-cell time-lapse approaches would be a distinct advantage. Experience in working with mammalian cell cultures and CRISPR Cas9 would be a clear advantage and knowledge of transcriptional regulatory mechanisms desirable. An excellent track record, indicating competitiveness for postdoctoral fellowships, is highly desirable.

  Good communication and organisational skills are essential.

  We are located on the UCL campus at Gower Street in central London.
