摘要:雷丁大学农业政策与发展学院牛奶代谢组学博士后招聘This is an exciting opportunity to work on the EIT Food-funded NMR MIRACLE project

This is an exciting opportunity to work on the EIT Food-funded NMR MIRACLE project, whose aim is to develop an analytical service to authenticate organic milk and enhance transparency throughout the dairy supply chain. This responds to an increasing consumer demand for strong commitment of the food industry to robust authentication of organic food across the EU. The project will evolve optimisation of existing nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy technology to foster the development of a testing service that distinguishes organic from conventional milk, at all supply chain levels (farm, pre-production, retail) and thus enhance the credibility of the dairy supply chain and consumer trust on the final product.

Under the direction of the principal investigators, the PDRA will develop and deliver tasks within the NMR MIRACLE project, including sample collection and laboratory analysis, NMR-based metabolomics, data interpretation, manuscript and report preparation, and organisation and participation in events to disseminate findings in academia, industry and public. The role may also include involvement in other related projects in the Schools of Agriculture, Policy and Development (SAPD) and Food and Nutritional Sciences (FNS), building productive and effective working relationships with academic, administrative, business and research colleagues within the University and with other EIT Food partners, as well as to support the preparation and development of new projects.

The position is for one year (2019), and potential extension for a second year (2020) will be considered during the first year of the project. The work is funded by the EIT Food, which is a unique partnership of over 50 leading companies, universities, and scientific partners covering the entire food value chain who are working together to transform the way in which we produce, distribute and consume food throughout Europe to improve consumer confidence and health.

SAPD at Reading, of which this post holder would be a member of staff, is global in its outlook and has an international reputation for both education and research. It was recently ranked 6th in the World QS subject rankings for Agriculture and Forestry. Within the University of Reading, SAPD has strong research links with FNS, the Schools of Biological Sciences, and Geography & Environmental Science, and has an established reputation for inter-disciplinary research. SAPD provides a welcoming, supportive and progressive environment for career development and consists of a learning and research community from over 40 different nations. SAPD was highly ranked in the last REF and prides itself on its multi-disciplinary research and education.

  You will have:

A PhD in a relevant field (this could include, for example, metabolomics, food science, analytical chemistry, animal science, agriculture, biology) and a strong interest in the food industry

A proven ability in performing NMR-based metabolomics analyses, including sample preparation, and spectral and multivariate data analyses

A proven ability in writing scientific papers and evidence of publication of research in peer reviewed journals

An ability to measure project performance and provide regular project updates

An ability to assess, interpret and evaluate outcomes of research

Interviews will be held on 28th November 2018.
