摘要:英国弗朗西斯·克里克研究所结构生物学/生物物理学/生物化学/细胞生物学/质谱学方向博士后招聘Location: The Francis Crick Institute, Midland Road, London

Location: The Francis Crick Institute, Midland Road, London

Contract: Fixed-term (4 years), full time

Salary: Competitive with benefits, subject to skills and experience

  Vacancy ID: 8925

  Short summary

This is an exciting opportunity to carry out mechanistic interdisciplinary research in the area of autophagy in the Schreiber lab at the Francis Crick Institute – a newly established world class biomedical research institute in the heart of London. We are an enthusiastic curiosity-driven lab with the mission to unravel the molecular basis of carrier formation during the self-eating process of autophagy in order to aid the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic tools to target the many human diseases associated with a deregulation of autophagy (e.g. cancer, infection and neurodegeneration).

The lab is establishing a cell-free system to re-enact and visualize the process of carrier formation in the test tube allowing us to dissect the process and its regulation at the molecular level. We are applying a combination of structural, biochemical and biophysical approaches to study the process at the highest possible spatial and temporal resolution.

The lab is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher interested in using bottom-up approaches to understand the molecular basis of autophagy. Applicants should have a strong background in structural biology, biophysics or fluorescence microscopy (e.g. cryo-electron, super-resolution or single molecule TIRF microscopy) and an interest in autophagy. Candidates with a background in biochemistry, cell biology or mass spectrometry interested in studying the posttranslational regulation of autophagy are also welcome to apply.

  About us

The Francis Crick Institute is a biomedical discovery institute dedicated to understanding the fundamental biology underlying health and disease. Its work is helping to understand why disease develops and to translate discoveries into new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, stroke, infections, and neurodegenerative diseases.

An independent organisation, its founding partners are the Medical Research Council (MRC), Cancer Research UK, Wellcome, UCL (University College London), Imperial College London and King’s College London.

The Crick was formed in 2015, and in 2016 it moved into a new state-of-the-art building in central London which brings together 1500 scientists and support staff working collaboratively across disciplines, making it the biggest biomedical research facility under in one building in Europe.

The Francis Crick Institute will be world-class with a strong national role. Its distinctive vision for excellence includes commitments to collaboration; developing emerging talent and exporting it the rest of the UK; public engagement; and helping turn discoveries into treatments as quickly as possible to improve lives and strengthen the economy.

If you are interested in applying for this role, please apply via our website.

The closing date for applications is 18 November 2018 at 23:30.

All offers of employment are subject to successful security screening and continuous eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
