　　Applications are sought for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to undertake research investigations in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), in order to realise the objectives and development of the research programme. The research will be based in the newly established Haematopoietic Stem Cell and Leukaemia Laboratory led by Professor Kamil R Kranc in the Centre for Haemato-Oncology, Barts Cancer Institute, within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London.

　　We seek highly motivated scientists with expertise in computational biology and bioinformatics. This multidisciplinary team funded by the recently awarded Cancer Research UK Programme Grant, will focus on the impact of the epitranscriptome on haematopoietic stem cell (HSC) biology and leukaemic stem cell functions in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). The group will investigate how specific RNA modifications control HSC biology and leukaemic transformation, and exploit these mechanisms to expand clinically-relevant HSCs and identify therapeutic targets to eradicate leukaemic stem cells in AML. This programme will join the emerging field of the epitranscriptome, and its role in cancer biology, thus offering significant opportunity for multidisciplinary training, new discovery and excellent career development.

　　This research programme will be co-supervised by Professor. Donal O’Carroll (University of Edinburgh).

　　Essential requirements for this post include a PhD in a relevant biological subject and an undergraduate degree in a biological subject. Significant research experience in bioinformatics and computational analyses of various ‘omics’ datasets and experience of analysis of high-throughput data such as RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, m6A-seq, Ribo-seq, and proteomics, is essential. Experience in the field of Cancer biology, RNA biology/epitranscriptome and an appropriate publication record would be an advantage. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential.

　　The post is a fixed term position for 36 months. Starting salary will be in the range £33,615-£39,483 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and an interest free season ticket loan.

　　The Barts Cancer Institute requires applicants to provide all certificates at interview to confirm their qualifications (specified in the Job Description).
