　　Postdoctoral Researcher: Developmental Neuroscience Perinatal brain injury laboratory.

　　A full-time postdoctoral research position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Joseph Scafidi at Children’s Research Institute within Children’s National Health System to investigate the molecular and biochemical basis of altered developmental trajectories after perinatal brain injury. The laboratory employs a wide range of cutting-edge techniques to study clinically relevant rodent models of perinatal brain injury such as chronic and intermittent hypoxia and systemic perinatal inflammation. Applicants can expect to gain experience with: confocal and in vivo imaging; immunohistochemistry; mitochondrial dynamic, bioenergetic and metabolic rates; 13C and 1H – nuclear magnetic resonance studies, biochemical assays, in vivo and in vitro MR and Gluco-CEST imaging along with spectroscopy; and a multitude of neuro-behavioral studies. Pharmacological studies will also complement these investigations. In addition, there is also on-going collaborative research on the effects of traumatic brain injury on brain development and bioenergetics in the laboratory. The Scafidi Laboratory is part of the Center for Neuroscience Research a Children’s National – a vibrant and collegial environment dedicated to understanding neurodevelopment in health and disease. Trainees will have access to excellent core facilities and services, including microscopic imaging, high-throughput sequencing, bioinformatics, and behavior.

　　The position is available immediately. Highly motivated individuals with expertise in metabolic assays, neurobiology, biochemistry, molecular biology and/or cell culture are encouraged to apply.
