Information about the position

A three year Fellowship position for a Postdoctoral research Fellow (SKO 1352) with background in immunology and molecular biology is available at the K.G. Jebsen Coeliac Disease Research Centre.

The project is located at the research group of Professor Ludvig M. SollidDepartment of ImmunologyInstitute of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine. The main objective of appointment to the position of Postdoctoral Fellow is to qualify researchers for work in top academic positions within their respective area of study. No one can be appointed for more than one specified period as a Postdoctoral research Fellow at the same institution.

Job description

The research project relates to studies of mucosal plasma cells of celiac disease and particularly those plasma cells that produce disease specific antibodies to transglutaminase 2 and deamidated gluten peptides. Insight from the project will be harnessed to develop better diagnostic tools and new treatments for celiac disease.

The successful applicant will join a 20-member group within an interactive multidisciplinary centre of scientists, in a strong academic environment, focusing on immune dysregulation in autoimmune disease (see http://www.med.uio.no/cir/english/research/groups/sollid/ for further information).

The Postdoctoral research fellow is expected to take active part in the research cooperation within the project.

The main purpose of the fellowship is to qualify researchers for work in higher academic positions within their disciplines.

Qualification requirements

  • We are looking for highly motivated and structured candidates with excellent laboratory skills and collaborative qualities.
  • Experience from work with immunology, in particular B cells and plasma cells and skills in flow cytometry, cell sorting, high throughput DNA sequencing, RNA sequencing and computing, are considered advantages.
  • The candidate must be fluent in written and spoken English.

For appointment as a Postdoctoral research Fellow, the applicant must have a project-relevant PhD degree (or other corresponding education equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree). Please also refer to the regulations pertaining to the conditions of employment for Postdoctoral research Fellows.

In assessing the applications, special emphasis will be placed on the documented, academic qualifications, the project description (whenever this is required in the call for applicants), and the quality of the project as well as the candidates motivation and personal suitability. Interviews with the best qualified candidates will be arranged.
It is expected that the successful candidate will be able to complete the project in the course of the period of employment.

No one can be appointed as Postdoctoral Fellow for more than one specified period at the same institution.
