A Wellcome Trust-funded post-doctoral position in Protein Biochemistry is available from 1st October 2018 at the School of Biochemistry, University of Bristol and at the cutting-edge Bristol Synthetic Biology Centre, BrisSynBio, a leading UK and international centre of excellence (www.bristol.ac.uk/brissynbio).

As part of a dynamic team, the post-doc will analyse the functional interactions of factors involved in translational control in vitro and in vivo. Outstanding applicants have a strong background in RNA/ribosome biochemistry or RNA-protein interactions. Expertise in molecular biology and protein biochemistry is essential. Experience in cell culture is highly desirable. Experience in in vitrotranslation, in vivo genetic code expansion and/or mass spectrometry is a plus.

The position requires a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Cell Biology or a related field. The successful candidate is a highly motivated, committed individual who enjoys working as part of a highly dynamic, collaborative and multidisciplinary team and has excellent communication skills. 

The post-doc will be based in the Berger-Schaffitzel (lead) laboratory in a highly collaborative setup including the Berger and Crump groups (Bristol), the Kulozik and Hentze groups (Univ. of Heidelberg, Germany) and Rappsilber group (Univ. of Edinburgh & Berlin). We are seeking to fill the post asap.
